IRUA’s Reinsurance Basic Syllabus Program
In 2021, the IRUA introduced “Syllabus Program” aimed at those who have just entered or who have only a few years of experience in the industry. It is intended to be a “Reinsurance Primer Series” of twelve basic topics to be offered on a rolling 2-year cycle. The first 6 topics are marked with an asterisk* and are listed in green.
A Certificate will be awarded to those participants who complete 10 out of 12 topics listed.

DEMOTECH AND THE FLORIDA MARKT

Joseph Petrelli, President, CEO and Co-Founder, Demotech Inc. and colleagues, gave us an insight into the rating process and current state of the important Florida market including thoughts on the upcoming 2022 renewals. This FREE event was very well attended and was a great introduction to the Annual Conference in April.

U.S. Insurance and Reinsurance accounting is unique to the industry. Senior Arch Re officials will explain how Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) varies from Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and why. See the differences between facultative and treaty accounting and how proportional and non-proportional business is accounted for.

Learn about the types of reinsurance contracts – pro-rata and excess of loss – and the various articles which play important roles in the application of contracts to the insurance and reinsurance business. PROPERTY UNDERWRITING FOR NON-PROPERTY PROFESSIONALS*
This webinar is meant to give non-property professionals an overview of property underwriting. It will explore property exposures and how to differentiate by construction, occupancy and protection. The session will also address covered perils and the basics of a property policy form. This session will discuss MFL and PML concepts as we look into what amounts we expect to lose on a per risk basis, on a per occurrence basis and in the aggregate. It will also touch on pricing and accumulation aspects on a high-level basis.

Our classic Reinsurance Audits session will focus on practical and useful issues from a Reinsurer’s perspective.
